Weekly Wrap-Up: March 3, 2014 - March 7, 2014
House Foreign Affairs Committee
Wednesday, I attended a House Foreign Affairs Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade Subcommittee Hearing on threats to Israel. Specifically, it focused on terrorist funding and trade boycotts against Israel. Click here to watch the archived webcast of the hearing.
House Financial Services Committee
Wednesday, I attended a House Financial Services Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee Hearing examining efforts to protect Americans' financial information through data security. As electronic payments continue to include the release of our personal financial data, we have a right to know how our data is protected, stored, and protocol for confidentiality failure. Throughout the week, I had a lot of great meetings with many groups from Arkansas. I appreciate Sandra and Brooke with the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance stopping in to tell me about their fight to find a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex. I also enjoyed catching up with Judge Alvin Black from Montgomery County, seeing members from the Arkansas Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and meeting with several other groups from Arkansas. Arkansas Vending Council Annual Convention
This morning, I had the privilege of addressing members of the Arkansas Vending Council (AVC) at their annual convention in Hot Springs. There were several AVC members in attendance from around the state including Canteen Corporate and Imperial Companies. There was also a great turnout of members from small, multi-generation, and family owned businesses there. Click here to see my pictures from the event.
Staff-Led Veterans Assistance Sessions
Members of my staff will be holding a Veterans Assistance Session in Clarksville, Jasper, and Huntsville within the next several weeks. My staff will be there to provide you with information and answer any questions you may have regarding the VA. Hope you can make it to one of them! The 2014 Congressional Art Competition is underway!
