Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013: On Wednesday, the House passed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013. This legislation supports our waterway infrastructure while implementing common-sense reforms that increase efficiency and ultimately saves billions of dollars. The final bill included an amendment I offered to address a discrepancy between population growth and water supply in small, rural communities.
Arklahoma Today: Monday, I gave my biweekly update to Arklahoma Today on the Marshall, KFPW-AM 1230. As always, it was great to check-in. If you’re in the listening area, tune-in on Monday, November 4, 2013 for my next update!
The Asian American Hotel Owners Association: Great to have the Asian American Hotel Owners Association Arkansas’s Delegation in town this week. I appreciated the opportunity to meet with them and hear more about the issues affecting their businesses.
Delta Grassroots Caucus: Last Friday, I spoke via telephone to the Delta Grassroots Caucus. I was grateful for the opportunity to speak to them about some of the things we’ve been working on in Washington, D.C. as well as several issues that impact them directly. Looking forward to speaking with them again soon!
The Promoting Adoption and Legal Guardianship for Children in Foster Care Act: On Monday, I was proud to vote for the Promoting Adoption and Legal Guardianship for Children in Foster Care Act, which passed the House with no opposition. Adoption is a reflection of the boundless compassion of our country and helps save innocent, unborn lives that may otherwise be ended by abortion. We should do all in our power to encourage adoption. Earlier this year, I spoke on the House Floor about the IRS’s targeting of adoptive parents who filed for the adoption tax credit.
