Cotton Introduces the No Special Deal for D.C. Insiders Act
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) released the following statement after introducing H.R. 3066 the No Special Deal for D.C. Insiders Act, legislation blocking the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) from providing unlawful healthcare subsidies for representatives, senators, and their staff:
“When President Obama and the Democrats rammed Obamacare through Congress, they clearly didn’t understand its consequences.  Now, after politically connected D.C. insiders begged for an exemption from Obamacare, the president has proposed just such a special deal.  Without legal authority, President Obama plans to give subsidies to political insiders that aren’t available to any other American.
“In recent weeks, I have written both President Obama and OPM to express my opposition and submitted legal comments to OPM on this proposed regulation.  I hope that they will follow the law as written and withdraw this unfair regulation.  If they don’t, this legislation is the next step in my fight against Obamacare and political favoritism.  It ensures that representatives, senators, and their staff are subject to the same failing law and its disruptions as all Americans.“
